The Cholas- Founder of Chola dynasty was Vijayalaya . Capital of Chola dynasty was Tanjore. Aditya I wiped out the Pallavas. weakened Pandhyas. Purantaka I captured Madurai, but was defeated by Rashtrakutas ruler Krishna III in Battle of Takkolam. Rajaraja I - ( AD 985-1014 ) Rajaraja I led a naval expedition against Shailendra empire. He also conquered northern  Sri Lanka. He also constructed Rajarajeshwari - Shiva temple at Tanjore. Nataraja - Rajendra I came and conquered Sri lanka. He took the title of Gangaikonda and founded Gangaikonda cholapuram . Dancing figure of Shiva belongs to Chola peiod. Nataraja - Dancing figure of Shiva.

Rashtrakutas- Founder by Dantidurg. Krishna I built the Kailasha Temple at Ellora. Amoghavarsha  wrote 1st kannada poetry Kaviraj Marg. Rashtrakutas also created Elephanta cave, dedicated to Shiva . Pushyabhuti Dynasty -   The greatest king of Pushyabhuti dynasty  was Harshavardhana. Harshvardhana was son of Prabhakar Vardhana. Hieun Tsang visited his court as a traveller. He also established a large monastery at  Nalanda. Banabhata made his court attractive, wrote Harshcharita. He also shifted his capital from Thaneshwar to  Kannauj . Harsh himself wrote three plays- Priyadarshika ratnawali Nagananda

Gupta Period- Chandragupta I was the founder of Gupta Dynasty. As you can see in the map, Gupta empire covered a large area of India. States including, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar pradesh etc. There were many Great rulers in Gupta Dynasty. Gupta period is also known as Golden age of Indian History. Chandragupta I - ( AD 319- 334 ) He Strengthened his position and enhanced the prestige of Guptas. He married a Lichchhavi princess . He was the first Gupta ruler to acquire the title of Maharajadhiraja . ( king wait ). He was able to establish authority over Magadha . Samudragupta - ( AD 335-380 )   He is called the Napoleon of India .   Meghavarman has given permission to built a Buddhist temple at Gaya. Meghavarman - Ruler of Sri lanka.   Allahabad piller gives detailed information about Samudragupta.  It was composed by his court poet Harisena .

Satavahanas or Andhras- -They came into power after defeating Kanva Dynasty (73-28 BC)    Devbhuti, the last ruler of Sunga dynasty was killed by Vasudeva. Vasudeva then, founded Kanva       dynasty.    Atlast, Kanva dynasty was replaced by Satavahanas. - Simuka was the founder of the Satavahanas. -Worship halls and monastries were made from rocks in that period. -They were in Deccan & Maharastra Majority. y - Nasik is a famous example of Satavahanas Empire. Under the Satavahanas, many chaityas ( worship halls ) and viharas ( monastries ) were build by          cut out from rocks. In fact, India learned to build houses, buildings, palaces and temples from Iran. - Official language of Satavahanas was Prakrit .
