Gupta Period-
Chandragupta I was the founder of Gupta Dynasty.
As you can see in the map,
Gupta empire covered a large area of India.
States including, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar pradesh etc.
There were many Great rulers in Gupta Dynasty.
Gupta period is also known as Golden age of Indian History.
Chandragupta I - ( AD 319- 334 )
He Strengthened his position and enhanced the prestige of Guptas.
He married a Lichchhavi princess.
He was the first Gupta ruler to acquire the title of Maharajadhiraja. ( king wait ).
He was able to establish authority over Magadha.
Samudragupta - ( AD 335-380 )
He is called the Napoleon of India.
Meghavarman has given permission to built a Buddhist temple at Gaya.
Meghavarman - Ruler of Sri lanka.
Allahabad piller gives detailed information about Samudragupta.
It was composed by his court poet Harisena.
Chandragupta II - ( AD 380-414 )
Inscription on Iron pillar near Qutub Minar , Mehrauli.
This pillar is related to him.
His court was Attractive by Navratnas,
Kalidasa and Amarsimha.
Fa-hein, Chinese traveler visited his court.
He was the fist king to issue silver coins in memory of victory over Shakas.
He adopted the title of Vikramaditya.
Gupta period is called Golden age of indian history because of uses of Gold coins in very large scale.
Kumargupta I - ( AD 415-455 )
Son of Chandragupta II.
He worshipped God Kartikeya.
He founded Nalanda Mahavihara,
which was a great centre of learning.
Nalanda Mahavihara was situated in Magadha.
Skandagupta - ( AD 455-467 )
Skandagupta was the last great ruler of the Gupta dynasty.
